Frond
Frond may seem like a serious departure from Richard Bultitude’s other projects (Point B, Planes & Xammatu) but it does stay true to the themes that are most consistent in his music. As a teenager Richard learned to produce his own original music on a 4-track using guitar, drums, vocals and a small array of effects. He discovered the potential for the studio as another instrument and so began the adventure into more internal sonic spaces. Influenced at the time by the Bristol music scene, early electronica and indie rock he set about combining these varied genres. Many years later, after a sabbatical DJing, promoting and performing dance music he retuned to the formula of his former self.
The Frond sound came quite naturally, once the decision had been made to keep the music instrumental and avoid rock song structure. The music uses many different sounds most of which have been sourced from his ever growing collection of musical intruments (electric & acoustic guitar, santur, harp and percussion) along with field recordings and other products of his audio experimentation.
Though Frond is very much another solo venture at this time, Richard is seeking to work with other musicians in order create a more free sound. In the meantime he has built a solid collection of tracks that vary from positive electro/acoustic pieces to ambient and drone. Watch this space for more fine downtempo manoeuvres.
