Peter Digital Orchestra Interview

peter-digital

We have another interview for you today with Peter Digital Orchestra (AKA Fulgeance). With the mammoth Juicy Lady already out there and Local Hero set to drop on the 15th of December the busiest man on two MPCs just keeps getting busier.

Firstly, tell us a little bit about yourself

I’m Pierre, aka Fulgeance, aka Peter Digital Orchestra, second half of the funk duet Souleance with Soulist. I love all the black music, bass music and good food. Producer for 5 years for different projects, my quest is to “groove” in all the styles: LOW CLUB, WONKY, HOUSE and more. Thats why I love to have many projects.

How does Peter Digital Orchestra differ from your other projects?

It’s an ego trip guy, ready to shake his ass for the ladies to make them dance. He loves himself, and he loves to show it. I created this project to get out all of me the need to be showman and fashion dandy on stage… because Fulgeance don’t really like that. Peter does. He loves that. And he wants to play music for dancing and crazy people, but able to surprise with his breaks and his style: red tie; Pento haircut, red vintage glasses…he’s a real showman and an orchestra at the same time.

Who are the main musical influences on this project?

As always, this question is hard to answer, so many… But Cylob, Daft Punk, Jess & Crabbe, Herbert, Jackson, Oizo, Dj Funk, Dexter, and most of the electronica artist who mixed dancing and electronic music… And as I said, big inspiration from all the black music.

Who are you releasing this project through and what are your future plans?

My label is Eklektik Records, they supported me since the beginning, and I already released the JUICY lady EP on it. Now I come back this 15th of December with the LOCAL HERO EP,  which is more influenced by the wonky of today, and house from yesterday. I think French Touch could be a cool new house, if it wont fall into that rocky “over compressed” house that you can hear everywhere… So Future plans are this EP, and then album. Maybe an EP with the Cap Verdean MC SPOEK from PLAYDOE, workin on some bumby-booty tracks with him right now. And then a production for a Lithuanian singer called Jazzu* Lithuania is the shit man! My second hometown. Rendez - vous at New Year’s Eve in Vilnius, I’m playing there and it’s gonna be crazy crazy whe eh eh !!!

Peter Digital has a pretty strong sense of fashion. Who are your style icons? You look a bit like Man Machine era Kraftwerk’s groovey cousin.

I won’t say fashion, but style identity. Because there is a second degree in this project. A kind of dandy for sure, but pretty much a “wanker” and dirty bastard behind it all…provocating all the time. That’s why I chose a kind of classic suite, to make it poppy and then to slice the crowd with my ironic jokes, and my dirty beats. But, yeah, you can feel it as an old school space disco character. About style, my influences are: Michel Jackson (I dance better than him by the way….); Prince, Freddy Mercury (just the mustache!!), Kid Creole, Eddy Barclay, AL Pacino and maybe Al Bundy for the jokes….don’t really know who inspired me for that…heheheh….but yeah always groovy for sure.

Will you and your digital orchestra be heading to the UK anytime soon?

I’ll play in Glasgow on the 29th of January with Joe Goddard from HOT CHIP. I just decided to work with a cool booker called Mixedbizness, in Glasgow. So I hope some more UK gigs will happen, because I’m sure this project will make many kids & real dance music lovers sweat in the UK! I had cool gigs last year over France and Europe, but the UK is still one of the country I wanna rock with P Diggy.

We are coming to the end of the decade. Musically what have been your fondest memories of the the last 10 years.

As Fulgeance, I will say one album: Q Tip - Kamal the Abstract, and
one EP: Huess - I’d Rather be the Hunter, not because Inaudible Answer released it, but I fucking love it!

And as Peter Digital;
one album: Jackson - Smash
one EP: Dorian Concept - Trilangual Sex Dance Experience

Any final words?

Get set to host the Local Hero!
