Huess – I’d Rather Be The Hunter
The debut ep from Huess on Inaudible Answer is now available to purchase.
Inaudible Answer proudly presents the debut EP from Huess – I’d Rather Be the Hunter. The title track is an infectious ‘Donuts’-era J Dilla inspired cut-up in the vein of recent releases from the likes of Bullion and Onra. Featuring a collision of sweet soul and crunching beats with a liberal dose of pan-asian influences, it’s bound to make you want to move. The EP takes a deeper route on ‘Gak’. A complex, multi-layered exploration of wonky rhythms and langorous melodies that will surely be compared to beat merchants like Madlib and Flying Lotus, the tune evolves from it’s jazz-inflected intro into an insistent atmospheric head-nodder. On the flipside (if there was one!), ‘A Simple Method’ is a track of various parts from it’s delicate opening through a main section of electronic pianos and vocal stabs giving way to a jarring wall of glitchy feedback at the end. The final track is ‘Been So Callous’, a pounding mong-rock dirge. Taken together, the tracks provide a perfect showcase of things to come from Huess and the Inaudible Answer stable.
